Bringin' a heapin' helpin' of Texas-Style Holstein Hooptie to the 24 Hours of LeMons!

About the Race

The 24 Hours of LeMons Race  in Houston will be held October 18 and 19th at MSR Houston in Angleton, Texas. See the schedule.

You can find the whole sordid history of the 24 Hours of Lemons on their website at www.24HoursofLeMons.com  Don’t tell ‘em we sent you!

How did the LeMons end up at MSR Houston?

It all began with a few Margaritas, like most brilliant-sounding ideas in Texas do. A group of wizened (but not wise) old racers were talking about how much fun the LeMons races sound. A few of us had just read about the race at ThunderHill and we all had a great laugh about the rules. As we stumbled out of the cantina, a tequila-induced brainstorm (or a frijoles refrito-induced brain fart) made me say, “We can have a LeMons race here.” Three of us thought it sounded like a good idea (two are still under psychiatric care), the smarter ones shook their heads and wandered off… snickering.

A few days later, I was on the phone with the grand poobah Jay Lamm, pitching our local race course. Jay seemed intrigued but wisely refused my invitation to join us for our next Houston Region SCCA race weekend. Instead he sent Dan Radosomethingoranotherowicz. Dan quickly impressed me with his intelligence and foresight – he refused my offer to pick him up at the airport. After wining and dining Dan, we showed him our facilities (much better than PortaCans) and after a few rides around the course in one of the racing school Mercedes, Dan capitulated, begged for mercy and promised we’d get an event. We let him go.
